An optometry practice that is a little bit different
We are a family owned, trusted and independent optometrist practice that has been serving the Mount Gambier and District community for over 27 years.
Established in 1994, we have been providing quality, tailored eye care solutions in a relaxed and caring environment.

Fire Station Optometrists, named after the historically listed Fire station the practice occupies, is a busy practice. We have access to many types of glasses and contact lenses including disposables and RGP lenses. We have a special interest in specialty contact lens fittings such as orthokeratology lenses and dry eye therapies.
Our focus is on providing a quality service at the highest clinical standard for our patients.
We take pride in knowing our patients, and delivering continuity of care in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

Dhruvil Gajjar
Optometrist
Dhruvil (Dhru) graduated from Flinders University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science) and a Master of Optometry.
Early in his studies, Dhru discovered a strong interest in rural and regional eye care through placements in Katherine (NT) and Nepal. These experiences highlighted the importance of accessible eye health services in remote communities and inspired him to pursue a career dedicated to providing quality care where it is needed most.
After completing a placement at Gulf and Ranges Optometrists, Dhru was drawn to Fire Station Optometrist’s supportive environment and the diverse range of eye conditions encountered in regional practice. As a young optometrist, he is passionate about continuing to develop his clinical skills and expand his expertise in the management of various ocular conditions, while maintaining a compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
Outside the clinic, Dhru enjoys both watching and playing cricket and is an avid Formula 1 enthusiast. His love for motorsport extends to go-karting and exploring different racing disciplines. He also enjoys road trips, often preferring the tranquil scenery of nature and regional landscapes over busy city destinations, and he finds creativity and relaxation in cooking and trying new foods.
